Beverage Do’s & Don’ts On Your Diet Plan

If you’re looking to shed those extra pounds it’s going to be incredibly important that you’re monitoring the beverages that you’re drinking on a daily basis. The bad thing about beverages is that most people will not account for the calories they contain, and will still eat just as many calories as if they hadn’t had that beverage in the first place.

So from a calorie control standpoint, calorie-containing beverages are not your best option.

So what is then?

Let’s look at the main beverage do’s and don’ts to remember.

Do Opt For Green Tea

One of the best ways to start your day is with Green tea. It’s calorie free, will provide antioxidant benefits, and can boost your metabolism.

It’s a completely healthy beverage to be consuming.

Don’t Go For Gourmet Coffee

On the flip side, avoid gourmet coffee beverages. These are laden with high calorie syrups, whipped cream, and other ingredients that make them more like a dessert in a cup than a beverage.

Do Add Lemon To Water

If you’re bored with drinking water on a daily basis, consider adding a slice of lemon or lime to your glass. This is a fast way to jazz it up and make sure that you get in your eight glasses per day. Nothing beats water when it comes to your liquid consumption.

Don’t Drink Alcohol

Alcohol is next on the list to avoid. Drinking alcoholic beverages will not only cause you to consume more calories than you need, but it can also impair judgement for food choices.

Plus, when you drink alcohol, all fat burning in the body comes to an immediate stop. Avoid it at all costs.

Do Choose Milk

Milk is another beverage that does contain calories, but is still smart to consume. Milk is high in protein, rich in calcium, and will help promote strong bones.

At 100 calories per cup, just be sure you add it to your daily intake.

Don’t Choose Fruit Juice

Finally, avoid fruit juice on your diet plan. Fruit juice is very high in sugar and will just cause you to experience an energy high followed by a low.

Fruit juice also lacks the fiber that real fruit contains.

So choose your beverages wisely. If you aren’t careful, these could really put a dent in your diet plan.
