Ever heard that you should be cutting fruit out of your diet plan? If you’re like most people, you’ve heard this time and time again. It’s often said that fruit is just too high in sugar to be a part of a diet plan and therefore should get the boot from your daily diet.
But, is this really the case? Must fruit go for you to see success on your diet?
Let’s look at some points to keep in mind regarding fruit and weight loss.
Fruit & Fiber
The first thing to keep in mind is that while fruit is high in sugars, they’re natural sugars and in addition to that, it’s also rich in fiber, which helps to counteract the effect of the sugar in the body.
So for this reason, you won’t get nearly the same blood glucose spike from fruit sugar as you would from a chocolate bar.
This makes fruit a wise choice for your diet plan.
Fruit & Nutrients
Next, fruit is also rich in nutrients. There are so many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants found in fruit, that it’s really one food that you just don’t want to pass up.
If you want to keep yourself healthy while you go about the process of losing those extra pounds, adding fruit to your diet is a smart move. Cutting it out would rob you of the potential nutrition it has to offer.
There are many nutrients in fruit that you won’t get anywhere else.
Fruit & Calories
Finally, the last important point to remember about fruit with regards to whether you should add it to your diet plan, is the fact that it’s relatively low in calories. All in all, most fruit only contains around 50-100 calories per piece or cup, so it’s not going to cause any damage to your daily intake.
Compare this to your average chocolate bar or box of sweets that comes in around 300 calories or more, and you can see why fruit really isn’t all that bad of an option at all.
So don’t shun fruit. If you keep your intake to a moderate level, it can be a perfect way to boost the nutrition you’re taking in on a daily basis, combat hunger, and help satisfy any craving you have for something sweet.
